The highly anticipated seventh edition of the City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge was officially launched on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the City Tyres head office in Kampala’s Industrial Area.

Scheduled to take place from October 17 to 20 at Lugogo Indoor Arena, the tournament promises to be bigger and better than ever. Annet Nakamya, President of the Uganda Badminton Association, expressed her optimism for a successful event, praising the consistent support from the Mandela Group of Companies.

“We are confident this year’s tournament will surpass expectations. The continued backing from the Mandela Group has been invaluable in nurturing young talent and elevating our athletes to compete on larger stages,” Nakamya said.

Herbert Bashasha, Chief Marketing Officer of Mandela Group of Companies, echoed these sentiments, assuring full sponsorship and noting the group’s commitment to improving the event. “This is our seventh year sponsoring the tournament, and we are well-prepared for an even greater experience. We remain dedicated to supporting Team Uganda and all participants.”

The tournament will welcome competitors from across East Africa, including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo, Burundi, and South Sudan, all competing for top honors.
