In a vibrant and lavish event at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo, Kamuntu Frank, media coordinator for the Office of the National Chairman, graduated with a Second Class Upper Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Victoria University. He was one of 1,470 students awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates during the university’s 8th graduation ceremony.

At 12:54 pm, Kamuntu was officially conferred his degree by Chancellor Prof. John Opuda-Asibo. Accompanied by his parents and sister, Kamuntu expressed immense gratitude, reflecting on the challenges of balancing work and study. As CEO of SwiftNews, he shared his joy in reaching this significant milestone.

“This is a moment of pure joy and celebration,” Kamuntu said, dedicating his achievement to his mentor, Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University. “He has been more than a mentor—almost like a parent. I wouldn’t be standing here today without his unwavering support.”

Kamuntu also praised Victoria University’s forward-thinking approach, noting the seamless experience of online learning that allowed him to balance his studies with work. “You don’t have to lose your job because of school. I completed my coursework and exams online thanks to the university’s digital learning platform,” he said.

Encouraging the younger generation, Kamuntu added, “Victoria University is the ‘University of You.’ With AI shaping the future, this is the place to be for anyone looking to prepare for the new world of technology.”

Kamuntu shared his plans to pursue a Master’s Degree at Victoria University, inspired by a lecturer’s advice to never settle for less. Quoting Nelson Mandela, he said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”

The graduation ceremony saw the attendance of high-profile guests including Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, and Hon. Persis Namuganza, among others. A total of 692 male and 778 female students graduated, with 129 earning Master’s Degrees, 506 Bachelors, 141 Diplomas, and 694 Certificates.
