On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a significant meeting with Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Museveni, in Cairo. The meeting was also attended by Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense, General Abdel Mageed Saqr.
During the talks, General Muhoozi conveyed warm greetings and appreciation from Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to President El-Sisi. In response, President El-Sisi expressed his admiration for President Museveni and praised the enduring historical ties between Egypt and Uganda.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on the military sector. They emphasized the importance of working together across various fields to deepen their strategic partnership.
The discussions also extended to regional and continental matters, exploring ways to enhance joint development efforts among African nations. Particular attention was given to fostering cooperation within the Nile Basin, as well as in the Horn of Africa and East Africa, to advance the common interests of African countries.
