Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick has arrived in Uganda for the first stop of her African Magic Tour 2025, aimed at engaging with nearly 12,000 Rotarians and Rotaractors, as well as political and cultural leaders. The visit, which kicked off on Sunday, marks a significant milestone for the organization, as Urchick is the second woman to serve as president of Rotary International.

During her stay, Urchick will visit several key projects, including the Rotary Peace Centre at Makerere University—the first of its kind in Africa—where she will participate in a Peace Symposium and Capstone event on January 10th. This centre, dedicated to peacebuilding and conflict resolution, has been pivotal in training change-makers. Urchick will also attend the Africa Peace Concert to raise funds for the sustainability of the centre.

In addition to her peacebuilding efforts, Urchick will engage in activities like the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and lead a Peace Walk to promote unity. She will also visit significant Rotary projects such as the Rotary Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital and the Rotary Cancer Centre at Nsambya Hospital.
