ITHUBA Uganda, the official operator of the Uganda National Lottery, has secured three esteemed awards at the African Marketing Confederation Awards 2024, recognizing its impactful marketing strategies. The accolades were bestowed during a ceremony held in Mombasa over the weekend, highlighting the top marketing teams and brands from across Africa.

The company’s innovative “Billionz Zizino” campaign garnered attention for its creativity and effectiveness, earning accolades in both Silver and Bronze categories. Stephen Muneza, the Public Relations Officer, announced that ITHUBA Uganda received the Silver award for ‘Best Social Media Campaign of the Year,’ acknowledging the campaign’s significant engagement and impact across social platforms.

Additionally, the company secured a Bronze award for ‘Campaign of the Year,’ which celebrates the most outstanding marketing efforts of the year, showcasing ITHUBA’s creative approach to lottery marketing. It also received a Bronze award for ‘Best Use of Local Insights,’ highlighting the campaign’s success in tapping into local culture and consumer behavior to forge meaningful connections with audiences.

Michelle Van Trotsenburg, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at ITHUBA Uganda, expressed her enthusiasm about the awards, stating, “These recognitions reflect our dedication to creativity and establishing a seamless National Lottery experience. Our campaign, which has already paid out over UGX 2.5 billion to winners and expanded our retailer network from 350 to over 820 agents, demonstrates our commitment to transforming the lottery landscape in Uganda within just four months of operation.”

The “Billionz Zizino” campaign captivated audiences through dynamic visuals and a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, which included strategically placed billboards, collaborations with local influencers, and engaging promotions. Michelle noted that the campaign’s versatility allows it to adapt effectively to different lottery games, further enhancing its reach.

The African Marketing Confederation Awards celebrate marketing excellence across the continent, with brands from Kenya and Uganda standing out this year. ITHUBA Uganda’s achievements underscore the hard work and dedication of its marketing team.
