MTN Uganda has confirmed a significant leadership shift as Mr. Somdev Sen, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), prepares to conclude his seven-year tenure on October 11, 2024. Mr. Sen, who has been instrumental in driving MTN Uganda’s marketing growth and innovation, will take on a new role as Chief Digital and Commercial Officer at MTN Rwanda, effective October 14, 2024.
Under Mr. Sen’s leadership, MTN Uganda has seen its customer base double in the past six years, while several iconic campaigns such as “Uganda is Home,” “MTN Senkyu,” “MoMo Nyabo,” and “Wesotinge (Osmosis)” have strengthened the brand’s connection with Ugandan consumers.
MTN Uganda CEO, Ms. Sylvia Mulinge, praised Mr. Sen’s contributions: “Somdev’s leadership has been pivotal to our success. His passion and commitment have left a lasting impact on MTN Uganda. As he embarks on his new journey, we are proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best.”
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Sen expressed gratitude for his time at MTN Uganda, where he held various leadership positions before becoming CMO. He shared his appreciation for his colleagues and the people of Uganda, stating, “As I move on to my new role, I am confident that MTN Uganda will continue being unstoppable.”
