The approval follows a string of international recognitions for Hamz Stadium. In October 2024, FIFA certified the stadium’s playing surface, a distinction personally awarded by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Earlier this year, the facility also received a nomination for a prestigious global sports award, reinforcing its status as a leading sporting venue.

Rogers Mulindwa, Chairman of the Hamz Stadium Management Committee, credited the achievement to the collaborative efforts of Uganda’s government and sports authorities. He acknowledged the unwavering support of President Yoweri Museveni, Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni, State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, and FUFA President Moses Magogo in advancing the nation’s football aspirations.

“This is not just a milestone for Hamz Stadium—it’s a triumph for Uganda and African football as a whole,” Mulindwa remarked. “We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards while providing a platform for young talent and showcasing Uganda’s potential on the continental stage.”

CAF’s endorsement is expected to bring widespread benefits beyond football, boosting Uganda’s tourism sector, attracting global attention, and nurturing emerging talent. With its modern facilities and international recognition, Hamz Stadium-Nakivubo is poised to become a premier hub for African football and a symbol of Uganda’s growing influence in global sports
