Masindi Main Hospital celebrated Christmas Day with the successful delivery of 11 babies as Christians marked the birth of Jesus Christ. Of these newborns, eight were boys, and three were girls, with eight delivered naturally and three through caesarean section.
Dr. Rogers Musinguzi, the hospital’s medical superintendent, encouraged expectant mothers to seek hospital care during delivery to ensure safe outcomes for both mother and child.
Other health facilities across Uganda also recorded a significant number of births on Christmas Day. Kawempe National Referral Hospital welcomed 58 babies—32 boys and 26 girls. At Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, 38 babies were born, while Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital reported 31 births, comprising 16 boys and 15 girls. Meanwhile, Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital recorded nine successful deliveries.
In total, over 290 babies were born in health facilities nationwide on this festive day, with more boys than girls making their arrival.
