Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy President for Western Uganda, has passed away. Mugisha died this afternoon at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital after being in a coma for several weeks.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, confirmed the news of her passing on social media, paying tribute to her legacy. “With great sadness, we announce the passing of Mama Jolly. She passed on this afternoon at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital. Mama Jolly will always be remembered as a true Ugandan heroine. Rest in perfect peace, comrade Maama,” Kyagulanyi tweeted.

Jolly Mugisha was a prominent and influential figure in Uganda’s political landscape, especially in Western Uganda, where she was a key advocate for NUP’s vision of justice, equality, and freedom.
