Today, Victoria University Kampala held its 8th graduation ceremony at the luxurious Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, where over 1,470 students received Master’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates across various fields of study.

The ceremony featured Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, as the Chief Guest, alongside the university’s Founder and Ruparelia Group Chairman, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, and other distinguished guests.

During his address, Tayebwa praised Dr. Ruparelia for his dedication to quality education, encouraging the university to focus on research and innovation to foster socio-economic development in Uganda and Africa. He stated, “I commend Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for his commitment to the education sector, emphasizing that profit should not drive investments in this vital area.”

Tayebwa urged the university management to uphold high standards, collaborate with other institutions, and prioritize groundbreaking research to accelerate socio-economic progress across the continent. He also encouraged graduates to pursue further studies, embrace technology, and be mindful of their social media activities. “This marks just the start of your academic journey. Strive for further education, work diligently, adapt to new technologies, and consider your online presence carefully,” he advised.

VU’s 8th graduation ceremony

Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga expressed pride in the students’ achievements, highlighting the significance of their hard work and the support of their families. “Today is a celebration of dedication and effort, and we look forward to honoring each of our graduates.”

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Godfrey Kirumira, Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda, alongside other university vice-chancellors and esteemed guests.

Victoria University has positioned itself as a leading higher education institution in Uganda, particularly noted for integrating Artificial Intelligence into its curriculum. The university’s Work Integrated Learning Programme immerses students in real work environments as part of their educational experience.

Under Dr. Muganga’s leadership, the university has introduced the VClass digital blended learning platform, enabling remote and virtual learning. This system facilitates online tuition payments and exams, enriching the educational experience.

From the moment of admission, students engage in the Career Readiness and Employability Programme, progressing to the Work Integrated Learning stage, which prepares them for real-world careers prior to graduation.
