UPDF Rejects ISIS Claims of Soldier Deaths in Kayunga

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has refuted reports circulating on ISIS-affiliated platforms that claimed 10 soldiers were killed and others injured during clashes near Misanga in Kayunga District. The reports falsely attributed the attack to a call for revenge by Musa Baluku, leader of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), who allegedly cited the slitting of eight Ugandan soldiers’ throats.

Major Charles Kabona, spokesperson for the UPDF 1st Division, labeled the reports as “malicious and baseless propaganda,” emphasizing that no such incident occurred. He reassured the public that the area remains peaceful, with no disruption to daily life in Kayunga. The UPDF urged the public to disregard the misinformation, stating that there is no evidence supporting the claims.

The ADF, a known terrorist group, has previously been responsible for attacks on civilians in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
