The Ministry of Education has issued a nationwide alert to schools following confirmed Mpox cases in Uganda, urging immediate precautions to protect students and staff. Ismael Mulindwa, Director of Basic Education, called for heightened vigilance, especially in areas with reported cases, emphasizing lessons from previous health crises like COVID-19 and Ebola.

The outbreak, declared on July 24, 2024, began with two cases in Kasese. Since then, 11 confirmed cases have emerged, with no fatalities, and a suspected case in Nakasongola has raised concerns.
