A press conference was recently held to address decisions regarding vulgar music and public entertainment in Uganda. During the event, UCC Executive Director George William Nyombi Thembo announced the suspension of several controversial songs.

The lyrics of Gravity Omutujju’s tracks, including Dooze, Okwepiicha, Enyama, and Omunio, as well as Lil Pazo’s Enkudi, have been the subject of public debate for the past few weeks.

Last week, the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) called for a ban on the songs and banned the artists from performing them.

Nyombi Thembo also reminded concert organizers that, under the Stage Plays & Public Entertainment Act and its associated regulations, they are required to obtain permits from the UCC before hosting events.
